The HeatSmart Alliance is a recently formed volunteer group that promotes adoption of low-emissions heating, cooling and related technology in our communities. Our group has grown out of the HeatSmart programs sponsored by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) in multiple Massachusetts communities. As of early 2020, we have members from the HeatSmart programs in Carlisle-Concord-Lincoln, Hudson-Stow and Arlington-Winchester, and from the unaffiliated towns of Acton, Maynard, Sudbury and Wayland in Boston MetroWest. We welcome new participants from all localities.
We focus on heat pump technology and also weatherization, as a vital component of the overall strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings. The group collaborates to provide resources for residents and community groups, about technology, installers and coaching. We also host community events where we bring residents together with experts, installers, and neighbors who have heat pumps. The HeatSmart Alliance is associated with the MassEnergize 501C3 non-profit for purposes of accounting and fundraising.
We meet monthly, on the second Friday of each month, from 7:30am to 9:00am. Participants may join in person at the headquarters of Concord Municipal Light Plant or by video conference. We welcome members for additional towns and collaboration with other organizations – governmental, non-profit or for-profit. Please Contact Us if you would like to join these meetings or learn more about our activities.
